Tailgate trunnions are used at the base of the tailgate for opening and closing. The application is similar to the tailgate hinge. They bolt to the bed side and have a cylindrical part that fits into the tailgate allowing it to rotate. Steel trunnions need to be painted to prevent rusting. This part is purchased from an outside vendor.
