The latch eye bracket is used with the chain assembly, but sold separately. It attaches to the tailgate on each side. The chain hook goes through a hole in the latch eye bracket when the tailgate is closed. Zinc-plated brackets are shiny, but should be painted for long-term outdoor exposure.
